Background and Purpose: Nakagawa Town is located in the northern part of Hokkaido, with the Kitami Mountains to the east and the Teshio Mountains to the west. The town extends in a narrow north-south strip along the Teshio River flowing through the center of these two mountain ranges and the Anpeishinai River basin that flows into it.
